The government of Javier Milei approved on Friday night the transfer of $10,000 million pesos to assist Bahía Blanca, after the intense storm that caused several deaths and left numerous affected areas. The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, confirmed the economic aid requested by the mayor of Bahía Blanca, Guillermo Francos. The magnitude of the situation led President Javier Milei to cancel a trip to Mendoza. Various ministers from the administration of Axel Kicillof are already in the area, and the Nation decided to send the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, and the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, to provide support.

In total, more than 290 millimeters of rain fell overnight, causing flooding in several sectors of Bahía Blanca. The Interzonal Hospital Dr. José Penna was overwhelmed with its basement flooded, causing serious complications in its operation. The airport also had to close in the morning due to the flooding that affected both the terminal and the runway.

Six deaths have been confirmed due to the storm, with more than 1,000 evacuees because of the flooding of their homes. President Milei is monitoring the situation from the Quinta de Olivos, while Governor Axel Kicillof spoke about the importance of government assistance in times like this.

In relation to the storm in Bahía Blanca, Mar del Plata has issued a red alert in anticipation of a strong storm for the evening, taking preventive measures that include the suspension of classes, large-scale and sports activities in the city. Owners of establishments have been urged to remove items that may pose a risk due to strong wind gusts.
